Congratulations to our master’s students Oong Hui Jie(汪卉婕) and Chen Lei-Chi (陳蕾琪) for receiving the 24th NTU Literary Award! Oong Hui Jie (汪卉婕) won the Second Price in the prose fiction category and Chen Lei-Chi (陳蕾琪)won the Honorable Mention Award in the essay writing category.

  • Congratulations to our institute’s doctoral candidate Yang Fu-Min (楊富閔) for editing Chiu Ko’s Selected Novels of 2022, now published by Chiu Ko Publishing Company!

  • Congratulations for the publication of In Words We Thrive: The History of the Liberal Arts Publishing Industry in Taiwan by China Times Publishing Company, a project planned by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature and edited by our institute’s Associate Professor Chang Li-Hsuan (張俐璇) ! The contributors include Su Shuo-Bin(蘇碩斌), Chang Wen-Hsun(張文薰), Lin Yueh-Hsien (林月先)and Tsai Yi-Chen(蔡易澄). This volume traces the history liberal arts publishing industry in Taiwan over the last hundred years.

  • Congratulations to our students for the outstanding achievement of receiving the 2023 Young Writer’s Reward by the Ministry of Culture. We seek to create a space where new forms of writing inspired by Taiwanese literature and history will flourish. Our faculty’s shared belief is that academic knowledge stimulates creative imagination, and reading and writing engage with the public and world in a meaning way.

The Institute of Taiwan Literature was established in 2004. We are the only department in National Taiwan University that focuses on local literature and culture. We currently employ five professors and three adjunct professors. Their expertise covers all the important issues in the field of Taiwan literature studies, including modern literature in Taiwan and China, contemporary Taiwan culture and literature, classical Taiwan culture and literature, modern literature in Japan, critical theory, linguistics and language studies, cultural and gender studies, folklore studies, and more. In the future, with the current academic staffs and our programs, and additionally with various resources within and beyond the university, we aim to expand our academics visions and to develop a deeper and broader horizon for Taiwan literature research.
